Sigma Kappa

Sigma Kappa is the newest chapter added to College of Charleston, colonized in the fall of 2015! Their chapter continues to grow and exemplify leadership and powerful women at The College.

Sigma Kappa was founded in 1874 and found its way to Charleston in fall 2015! The mission of the Lambda Epsilon chapter of Sigma Kappa is to instill strong values to foster passion driven leaders for the future. The purpose of Sigma Kappa is to provide women with lifelong opportunities and support for social, intellectual, and spiritual development by bringing women together to positively impact their communities. We uphold that purpose with our four values: personal growth, service, friendship, and loyalty.

Sigma Kappa has four philanthropies: Sigma Kappa Foundation, Inherit the Earth, Gerontology with a focus in Alzheimer’s, and Maine Sea Coast Mission. Our philanthropy event is Ultra Violet Campaign, a fundraising event that supports Sigma Kappa Foundation and our philanthropies. We also participate in Walk to End Alzheimer’s.

When you join Sigma Kappa you truly find your family - girls yyou can depend on for anything, whether it be a hug after a bad day or just people to have movie nights with. Sisterhood bonds grow even stronger through different activities we participate in around campus and within the city. In Fall 2016 we had our first Ultra Violet campaign which was an annual Fall Festival with apple cider, potato sack races, pumpkin carving and music. Since one of our main philanthropies is the Alzheimer's Association, we actively donate and participate in the Charleston Walk to End Alzheimer's every year. We walk united as a chapter to fight for an important aspect to everyone's lives - memories.
